JBRND Launches New Gen SYNCDRIVE Smart Shade Controller

Now STC/PMA Certified – Industry-Leading Features, Onboard Protection, and Wireless Programming

San Antonio, TX – June 25, 2025 — Jeff Bonner Research & Development (JBRND) is turning the next chapter in aircraft shade control technology with the launch of the SYNCDRIVE Smart Shade Controller along with a recent STC/PMA certification. SYNCDRIVE reflects JBRND’s focus on interior innovation, product reliability, and future solutions to meet the needs of modern aircraft cabins.

SYNCDRIVE brings together a full range of advanced features designed for smooth and reliable operation. It offers ultra-quiet motor control, custom acceleration/deceleration speed profiles, programmable motor torque and hold modes, real-time amp draw monitoring, and auto bind sensing to prevent hang-ups or overdriving. Built-in safety features includes: induced lightning protection, voltage and current regulation, and manual override support — making it one of the most protected shade controllers available.

Developed in partnership with CMS Aero, SYNCDRIVE works seamlessly with CMS’s Empire Cabin Management System. Using them together as an ecosystem, the controllers offer full health monitoring for each shade and an industry-first wireless programming feature, allowing technicians to configure or adjust controllers via WiFi without removing panels or physically accessing each unit. This has the unique ability to dramatically reduce install and service time costs.

In another industry first, SYNCDRIVE is also the first aircraft shade controller to support four input types simultaneously — Discreet, RS485, Ethernet, and Wireless. This gives operators and installers more flexibility than ever before, whether working with new aircraft builds or complex retrofits.

Alongside its product release, JBRND has already completed SYNCDRIVE installations across a range of aircraft types, including the Airbus A330, Boeing BBJ 737, and Gulfstream G550, proving the system’s capability across multiple cabin classes and configurations. In addition, 3 more BBJ window shade programs are currently in negotiations to start soon.
