May 10th, 2016, Hamburg, Germany –
Jeff Bonner Research & Development, Inc. (JBRND) unveiled a new digital switch for aircraft this week at the 2016 Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg, Germany. Visitors to the JBRND booth were able to interact with the new multitask-enabled touchscreen switches.
The JBRND FlightSwitch replaces traditional basic switches for cabin interiors with a .25″ thick 1.6″ wide TFT (Thin Film Transistor) with 240×240 resolution and an onboard processor which can dynamically change functions depending on the user’s needs. FlightSwitch can be programmed to perform any number of functions via direct output, Bluetooth or WIFI. The new switch facilitates the ability to change languages, call an attendant and control various functions of the aircraft’s cabin.
“FlightSwitch is a programmable smart-switch that can perform multiple functions on any aircraft,” says Chico Ellis, VP of Sales and Marketing for JBRND. “An old switch is just a switch, but these can be programmed to do all kinds of things. The FlightSwitch is basically an all-in-one. It’s simultaneously a switch for your window shades and an ordinance sign when needed. It can also control your thermostat, your cabin lights and even call for an attendant. You can even put a screensaver of your company’s logo on it.”
JBRND is celebrating their 25th year in the aviation industry. Jeff Bonner founded the company in 1991 after 18 years as an engineer at The Dee Howard Co. In addition to the new FlightSwitch product, JBRND manufactures headliner kits, showers, window shades and many other interior assemblies for VIP, commercial and military aircraft.
