SAN ANTONIO, TX., Sept. 24, 2015 – Jeff Bonner Research and Development has made another historical first by successfully completing burn and DO-160G testing for a new electronically controlled window shade designed specifically for 787 VIP conversions. These cassette style assemblies are the first window shades to be certified and delivered to support a VIP 787 Dreamliner interior modification. The Dreamliner windows are 30% larger than most aircraft; however, JBRND’s window shade cassettes weigh only 5 lbs. with a carbon fiber version at 4 lbs. These dual shade units include a separate sheer and blackout shade in each unit.
JBRND’s “SyncDrive” electric windows contain a unique USB programmable motor and a proprietary belt system which has completed over a million cycles without failure. SyncDrive window shade units are designed to be installed behind a standard or custom sidewall panel and can be easily integrated into various aircraft cabin management systems. They also operate with or without the 787 electronic dimming windows that come standard on 787 aircraft.
Boeing delivered the first two VIP BBJ 787 airplanes last year. Currently, 12 are expected to be completed through various modification centers for VIP service. DO-160G is a highly regarded test standard involving tests such as high/low temperature operation, altitude, flammability, humidity, vibration, voltage spike, and EMI/RFI emissions.
JBRND will be featuring their SyncDrive window shade units in-person at both the Dubai Airshow, November 8-12 in Booth 1847, and the NBAA show in Las Vegas, November 17-19 in Booth N4107.
